You're looking at the album cover for the new album, Mosquito, by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, to be released on April 16 by Interscope. The album was produced by Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio and Nick Launay. On Saturday night, we were at Sly Fox talking to strangers when "Y Control" came on and we discovered that we had all seen TV on the Radio open for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Boston's Government Center in 2006. Anyway, this album cover is pretty ugly, especially the way the computer-imaged 3D hand goes through the 2D band logo. According to Pitchfork, it was designed by Beomsik Shimbe Shim, who made the animated short "The Wonder Hospital." Also according to Pitchfork, James Murphy produced a song for the new album called "Nitrous Batcave" that features Dr. Octagon. In an interview on that site, singer Karen O describes Mosquito as a "tongue-in-cheek" "pep talk" during an "emotionally intense" period for herself and guitarist Nick Zinner.

Here's an "album teaser" with some new music and Karen O with blonde hair.

Here's a live performance of the title track.

Another new song.
