With Coachella right around the corner, legions of girls will be buying feathers, bikinis, jean cut-offs and headbands while dudes are stock up on day-glo man tanks, frat-star shades and ironic vintage basketball jerseys. These accoutrements will be repeated at Bonnaroo, Pitchfork, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits and on and on and on, evidence of the popularity of the indie aesthetic. And then there was The Vans Warped Tour.
Whereas now many music festivals sway to a dance-heavy vibe, since 1995 The Vans Warped Tour has been traveling the country unapologetically celebrating all things rock 'n roll. A new documentary, No Room for Rockstars, the Vans Warped Tour Movie, takes a look at the manic fest, talking to everyone from the excited teenagers in the parking lot to the grizzled roadies to even the rock stars themselves. Currently available on iTunes, the doc will come out on DVD on May 15 and you can check out the trailer above.
