PAPERMAG is excited to premiere SSION's new video for "My Love Grows in the Dark," the lead single on the group's forthcoming album, Bent, which comes out this summer via Dovecote. In the clip, the captivating SSION frontman, Cody Critcheloe, enters a house (or, possibly, sex club) and proceeds to encounter ladies making bread, androgynous dancers writhing in a terrarium-meets-living room, pouty chicks smoking and a body covered in snow. Regarding these co-stars, Critcheloe tells us, "No one really sees me in the video, and if they do, they're indifferent. I walk through this house where everyone is completely self-obsessed."

As for the meaning behind the video, Critcheloe sent this cryptic explanation via email:

I directed the video for 'My Love' and it was shot on the first floor of my friend in Kansas City's house over a three-day period. The video is supposed to be a backhanded version of a pop star... almost the antithesis of a pop star. The right lighting can make anyone look good -- the more extreme, the more it erases flaws, age, etc. I wanted to do it so extreme that the only thing left were my eyes, moustache and mouth -- iconic. Then at the end is the reveal: bald, tons of make-up, daylight... basically, I'm a WITCH.

SSION performs at New York's Highline Ballroom this Friday, March 2nd.
