Friday
night, the Los Angeles Museum of Natural History held another edition
of their "First Fridays" event. While we feel a major cultural
institution could get a little more creative with the series name (the
appellation is so common it gets its own wiki entry),
it's hard to complain about a party where bands play amongst dinosaur
bones and dioramas. San Francisco's Soft Moon and Brooklyn's own Light
Asylum brought their dark-wave sounds to the live stage for a sold-out
crowd, which included more than one toddler. At one point, a
congratulatory "Good job, Dad!" emitted from a little voice next to us
in the photo pit, directed at Soft Moon's synth player. We clapped in
wholehearted agreement. Check out our pics from the evening.
