This weekend, the Apollo Theater will be hosting the Breakin' Convention in honor of the international dance-theater festival's 10th anniversary. Breakin' is normally held in London, where it draws dance companies from across the globe who make a point of reinterpreting all manner of hip-hop styles. MC Lyte (!) will be the master of ceremonies in a weekend full of performances, DJ sets, hip-hop classes, graffiti-making, tributes to hip-hop greats, and more athleticism than any of us laymen could fathom.
