In the original Twin Shadow-produced track, Brooklyn-based Rush Midnight (né Russ Manning, former TS bassist) overlays hazy vocals with glimmery synths and smooth disco beats but in his version, Diamond Rings does away with all the pleasant languor. From the outset, the Toronto artist pummels you with hyper-kinetic synths and pulsating beats more appropriate for the dancefloor than your subway commute. It's a complex -- but tight -- production and we hope he brings it out during his show. And, if you'd like to hear the original, Rush Midnight will be performing at Glasslands on December 15 in support of Lemonade.
