Welcome to Trailer Trash, highlighting the best, worst and so-so in new movie trailers.
"A bunch of young people go to a cabin in the woods, and then things go horribly wrong." This has been the narrative of a host of films over the years, but the grandaddy of them all is Evil Dead, a low-budget cult classic born from some pretty crafty filmmaking. It's no wonder that horror fanatics have been anticipating a glimpse at the remake, which reunites the director of the original, Sam Raimi, and the film's star Bruce Campbell as producers. And if that's not enough to silence any worries of an awful remake, Diablo Cody and Rodo Sayagues Mendez are both on board as writers, former Beautiful Person and Suburgatory star Jane Levy stars, and Uruguayan horror golden boy Fede Alvarez is directing. The trailer delivers on every expectation you could have for a remake of this horror classic, but it's also apparently trying to shake things up. Besides all the obligatory gore and violence, there's also a sense of unpredictability stressed in this teaser. Check it out above.
Evil Dead hits theaters on April 12, 2013
