Confession: We don't get the obsession with vampire movies. But (but!) we totally want to go see Vamps, a new comedy from Amy Heckerling (Clueless, Fast Times at Ridgemont High) starring Alicia Silverstone and Krysten Ritter (Don't Trust the B**** in Apartment 23, She's Out of My League) as two vampire gals about town living and dating in New York City. Yes, it sounds like it's prime to be a miserable "Sex and the City-meets-Buffy the Vampire Slayer" combo but a) we trust Heckerling and b) she's rounded up a pretty insane cast. Aside from Silverstone and Ritter, this trailer shows Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey's Matthew Crawley...in modern clothes like these!) playing Ritter's love interest who just happens to be the son of Van Helsing (Wallace Shawn), Kristen Johnston as Mrs. Van Helsing, Justin Kirk, Malcolm McDowell and Sigourney Weaver as a few vampires and Richard Lewis as a character named Danny (dead or undead status unknown). We'll go to the costume store, buy some plastic fangs, and see you on opening night.
Vamps opens with a limited release on November 2nd.
