Even though there's nothing particularly new about a celebrity spotting in Williamsburg and Bushwick, our little ears perked up nevertheless when we heard that such
unexpected visitors like Katie Holmes and Suri and Bill and Hillary Clinton were seen in the area this weekend. What's more, these folks weren't spotted in "Grown-Up Brooklyn,"
places like say, DUMBO or Brooklyn Heights. Instead, they were
snapped at two locales that could equally vie for the epicenter of hipsterdom: McCarren Park and Roberta's.
A little context:
Katie Holmes and her daughter traveled all the way from their Chelsea apartment to Williamsburg to play in McCarren Park, which is sort of an odd choice as it seems like less of a fun park for children and more of a place to see adults playing kickball and trying to secretly smoke. Judging by the pic above, Suri was none too impressed by the whiskered, tattooed denizens she likely encountered loafing around outside.
The Clintons, meanwhile, dined al fresco at the Bushwick fave last night for a private 70th birthday party for big-time friend and Democratic donor, Esprit-founder Susie Buell. Capping off the experience was a performance by singer Lia Ices and, in case you were wondering, no, the Clintons did not dine side-by-side with the regulars -- the restaurant was closed to the public during the event.
And there you have it: Two's A Trend. Who's next? Barack and Michelle spotted milling around at Smorgasburg? The Jolie-Pitt clan at the Commodore?
