Welcome to Trailer Trash, highlighting the best, worst and so-so in new movie trailers.
Whoa. Pitch. Perfect. Looks. So. Good. The comedy, in post-production and tantalizingly just "coming soon," is about an all-female collegiate a cappella group, and stars Anna Kendrick as a bad-ass-seeming college freshman who reluctantly joins the group when her roommates discover she has a secretly awesome voice. The screenplay was written by longtime 30 Rock writer Kay Cannon, and features a slew of on-the-up-and-up actors like Anna Camp (who played Don Draper's chaste girlfriend Bethany Van Nuys on a few Mad Men episodes as well as Mindy Kaling's best friend on her forthcoming sitcom The Mindy Project); Workaholics' Adam DeVine; and the more seasoned Brittany Snow, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Elizabeth Banks. The breakout star, however, seems to be one miss Rebel Wilson, she of Bridesmaids fame, and Paper's 2011 Beautiful People issue. Her character is named "Fat Amy," and when we interviewed her she said that the name was actually selling point: "I'm sure lots of actresses would have looked at that role and said, 'I'm not playing that!' But I thought, 'This is going to be funny. And why not?'" Watch the trailer above for some sweet "No Diggity" action, an awkward and hilarious shower scene involving Kendrick and Snow, and Wilson doing some "horizontal running."
