Designer and artist Victoria Bartlett has long played with concepts of the human body and shape with the skin-tight, avant designs she produces with her line VPL, and explores similar themes in her new exhibit and book with Renée Vara. Second Skin examines "the concepts of corporal dissection, examination and re-assemblage" via works by 15 artists including David Armstrong, Hrafnhlidur Arnardottir (aka Shoplifter), Mark Borthwick, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Judith Eisler, Genesis P-Orridge, Katerina Jebb and Adam McEwen among others. The show opens tonight with a private reception at the VPL shop at 5 Mercer Street and will be open to the public tomorrow through July 31st. Check out these preview images from the show.
