Your Weekend Guide: Mister Saturday Night, KraftJerks + Psychojelly

There's some cool parties and performances coming-up tonight and over the weekend and, of course, we thought of you. Here's a little guide to what's going on.

Mister Saturday Night
celebrates the first album release -- Anthony Naples' Mad Disrespect -- on their own record label with a party on Saturday, April 14, 10 p.m., $15, at The House of Yes (342 Maujer Street, Brooklyn).  Who's spinning?  Why it's Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin, plus an early set from Mr. Naples himself.  Now all you have to do is find Maujer Street. Go to the MSN website now and you might snag a reduced admission ticket.

Evil Twin is back for another go-round, but this time they're headed over to Manhattan for a little get together on Friday the 13th. It starts around 11 p.m. and advance tickets are available HERE for only $5.Go ahead and buy a ticket and they'll tell you the secret LES location.  Appropriate evil disguises are encouraged.



For the truly adventurous there's Aztec Economy and Den Svarta Fanan's presentation of "Psychojelly," a half-hour performance with live music, videos and assorted weirdness on Saturday, April 14, 9 p.m., $10 at Big Sky Works (29 Wythe Avenue, 14th Street, Williamsburg). Also on the bill are Panoply Performance Lab and a psychedelic rock band called Sightings. Watch the video above if you're confused.

The "Discovery" crew host another big get-together this Saturday night, April 14th, at Lorely (64 Frost Street @ Meeker Avenue, Brooklyn) with Voices of Black, Beg to Differ plus resident DJs Free Magic and FASO.  RSVP here for reduced admission.


Screen shot 2012-04-12 at 2.08.18 PM.pngSince you couldn't get Kraftwerk tickets, MoMA PS1 (22-25 Jackson Avenue, LIC) decided to come-up with an alternative called the Kraftwerk Music Festival on Saturday and Sunday afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m. out in their backyard superdome. Tickets are $15 and you'll hear music from Juan Atkins on the 14th and Francois K on the 15th.

Also on the shut-out-of-Kraftwerk tip, there's a two-night "exploration of the (band's) sonic and visual experiments " called "Kraftjerks!" at Big Sky Works. Opening tonight, April 12, at 8 p.m. there's a re-interpretation of Autobahn, Radio-Activity and Trans-Europe Express followed by Man-Machine, Computer World and Techno Pop tomorrow night, April 13, at 9 p.m. Both nights feature bands, DJs, light shows and projections plus DJ Ursula 1000 will spin on Friday.  It's only $10 per night and go HERE for all the details.
