10 Celebrity Couples Keeping Love (and Hope) Alive

0
0
With the recent breakups of Chad Kroger and Avril Lavigne and Jennifer Westfeldt and some dude named Jon Hamm, the venerable institution of celebrity romance has come under fire yet again. It's part of a long tradition of proclaiming the death of love after big, visible breakups, which is kind of weird when you think about it -- is the ability of other, famous people to stay in a long-term relationship (at least publicly) indicative of the strength of the concept of love and commitment? Maybe! (Then again, maybe Western ideas about romantic love really should just die already?) At the very least, there are still a number of celebrity couples for you to latch on to, in case you'd forgotten. Here are the ten celebrity couples keeping hope alive for you:

Chris Pratt and Anna Faris
It's hard to imagine this couple's home life as anything other than adorable and goofy. They got together before Pratt's meteoric rise to superstardom from The Guardians of the Galaxy through Jurassic World (even before he started appearing on Parks and Rec), while Faris stars on underrated CBS sitcom Mom. Think about what it's like when they both get back from a long day at the office. -- Eric Thurm

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi
One of the more inspirational celebrity duos, the marriage of Ellen and Portia was one of the first high-profile gay weddings, and as much as she's now mostly associated with her daytime talk show and taking selfies, Ellen's role as a pioneering out celebrity is hard to understate. These two have been going strong for over a decade -- let's hope they keep going. -- ET

Andy Samberg and Joanna Newsom
Maybe one of the most confusing couples ever, comedian and actor Andy Samberg quietly married artist Joanna Newsom in 2013. Do you think after he comes home from the set of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Andy Samberg listens to Joanna Newsom play the harp as he lies on the couch with his eyes closed? Do you think they feed each other grapes? We definitely didn't write any fan fic saying that. Nope. -- ET

Rhea Perlman and Danny DeVito
These two had a rough patch a few years ago, separating briefly after 30 years of marriage -- which, god bless -- but reunited and are still going strong as showbiz' ultimate cool af lovebugs. Plus, they dress their dachshunds in tutu dresses. Mad respect. -- Elizabeth Thompson

These two and their damn Quiche Fridays and chemistry kits and jokey butt shots. They're an eternal delight floating on a cloud of friendship and love. And pizza. -- ET

Michelle and Barack Obama
The First Couple is still the best couple (sorry Jay Z and Bey, your relationship is strained enough that it doesn't make this list) -- and now that Sasha and Malia and are old enough to be off doing their own thing (like interning for Girls), their classy, yet dorky family dynamic (and genuinely sweet-seeming, high-powered marriage) can go to the next level. Just think about what they'll be like once Barack finally gets out of his awful job. -- Eric T

FKA Twigs and Robert Pattinson
They of the perfectly sculpted cheekbones, Robert Pattinson and FKA twigs are both bringing palatable levels of mid-range spooky weirdo vibes -- and as such, are the ultimate alterna-celebrity couple to ship. Plus, you can bet your money on this shit working out, because apparently there have been lots of rumors re: wedding bells on the near horizon. Watch out for their inevitable vampire/scarf birth video. -- Sandra Song

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are so freaking adorable that they made a series of commercials that basically advertised how damn cute they are, and it just made us like them more. The Veronica Mars/Frozen star has been dating Shepard (best known for Parenthood) since 2007, and they famously waited until gay marriage was legal in California before they tied the knot. They were cute as heck in Hit and Run, which Shepard also wrote and directed, and he's such a good husband that he even made a cameo as a slimeball in last year's Veronica Mars movie. Should anything ever happen to these two, it would be like that time Bell saw a sloth times a million. -- Michael Tedder

Josh Homme and Brody Dalle
Talk about loud love. Punk goddess Brody Dalle is probably best known for fronting the Distillers, though she released a rather underrated solo album last year. She's been hitched to Queen of the Stone Age singer Josh Homme since 2007, and they've frequently collaborated with each other. Their dedication to each other through good times and bad melts our rock 'n' roll hearts. -- MT

Kim and Kanye
Arguably the ultimate Golden Couple of this list, Kimye can never break up because just look at how in love they are. From the snore selfies to the smiling Kanye pics, there isn't a couple we love to live vicariously through more than Hollywood's foremost champagne-slurping dream-team. Maybe we'rebiased, but c'mon. -- SS
