Alabama Shakes perform at Bowery Ballroom
Early adopters take note: the Athens, Alabama-based quartet will be bringing their rollicking blues-rock to New York tonight on the heels of the release of their debut album, Boys & Girls, which came out yesterday.
Bowery Ballroom, 6 Delancey St., $20, Sold Out
Lil B Speaks at NYU
The rapper also known as The Based God will speak at NYU's Kimmel Center about, well, who knows? Music, presumably, but, given the broad swath of material the rapper covers in his lyrics, there's no telling what direction the conversation will take. That said, there's homework before you go: Lil B released a mixtape, The Basedprint 2, and said it was required reading before the lecture.
NYU Kimmel Center, 60 Washington Square, $10
Roberta Flack at Ginny's Supper Club
Head to one of the hottest new venues in town -- the subterranean boîte beneath Marcus Samuelsson's still-white-hot Red Rooster -- to catch the soul legend playing some of her greatest hits as well as songs from her latest album comprised of a collection of Beatles interpretations, Let It Be Roberta.
Ginny's Supper Club, 310 Lenox Ave., $20-60, Sold Out
