Avril Lavigne Basically Calls Taylor Swift a H8r Boi

One of the most important parts of Taylor Swift's shtick is supporting her fans on social media by liking their content about her -- it shows that she's invested in them, that she's their friend. But not all social media engagement is created equally, and sometimes simply liking something is enough to piss someone else off.

In this case, Swift ostensibly liked a seemingly innocuous Tumblr post celebrating how close she is with her fans, using a negative contrast with other celebrities, including Kanye West and Swift's nemesis Katy Perry.



Avril Lavigne, included as one of the people in the original post, didn't take so kindly to the implied endorsement.

Okay, parsing this tweet is kind of... complicated (sorry, sorry). Is Avril Lavigne right that comparing things is an exercise in judgment? Definitely. Does judgment only define the person who judges, rather than the subject? No, probably not (although it's a consistent theme in Lavigne's music, especially if you're being judged for not being good enough for a girl). But is she right that Taylor Swift should maybe chill with the poorly-thought out social media potshots? Yuuup.
