Iconic punk group Bikini Kill has unveiled "Playground," a previously unheard track from their first recording, 1991's Revolution Girl Style Now!, which will be reissued on September 22nd via Bikini Kill Records.
Available now via Rolling Stone, "Playground" is a bit sludgier than the tracks that made it onto Revolution Girl Style Now!, which the bandmates attribute to Pacific Northwest cultural osmosis; in an interview with Rolling Stone, bassist
Kathi Wilcox says "We were definitely listening to the bands that were
happening then. I'm sure we were internalizing that to some degree."
In 2012, the former members started Bikini Kill Records to remaster and re-release their back catalog. Revolution Girl Style Now! will be available on CD, vinyl, digitally, and in a nod to the album's first format, a bright-red cassette.
