Levon Helm Band + Deer Tick at the Wellmont Theatre
Levon Helm, the 71-year-old legendary drummer of The Band, hasn't had it easy of late. He had to watch both of his Bandmates pass away, battle throat cancer and fall into a deep financial trouble. Things have been on the up-and-up though, following 2007's Dirt Famer, his first album in 25 years, 2010's Electric Dirt, and 2011's Ramble at the Ryman, which just won the Grammy for Best Americana Album. Tonight, he brings his throaty warble to the Wellmont Theatre. Indie-folksters Deer Tick open.
The Wellmont Theatre, 5 Seymour St., Montclair, NJ. 7 p.m. $40.
