After spending "a sprawling twelve months of constant writing and recording in a weird house in Delaware County, New York" Dirty Projectors are back with their sixth album, Swing Lo Magellan, out July 10th via Domino. The band, which had been a favorite among the indie scene for several years before they found broader success with their fifth album, Bitte Orca, in 2009, culled seventy songs produced by frontman David Longstreth during that prodigious time period along with forty finished demos before choosing the twelve tracks included in the album.
The first song they've released, "Gun Has No Trigger," features the same haunting harmonies from singers Amber Coffman and Haley Dekle found on Bitte Orca while at the same time feeling sparer and more intimate than some of their famously complex previous works. Listen to it below.
