Keith Haring's "Party of Life" Takes Over First Saturdays at the Brooklyn Museum

brooklyn-museum-keith-haring.jpgKeith Haring's legendary "Party of Life" returns April 7th this week as a part of Target First Saturdays at the Brooklyn Museum (200 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn). Admission to the museum's current exhibit of the late artist's early career, Keith Haring: 1978 -1982, will be FREE for everybody from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Haring held the first "Party of Life" to celebrate his birthday in the spring of 1984 at New York City nightclub Paradise Garage with a performance by Madonna and over 3,000 people attending. At this weekend's event, legendary DJ Junior Vasquez will be spinning a tribute to '70s and '80s NYC from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The night will also feature an "artist talk" with photographer Christopher Makos at 7 p.m. and a performance by Brooklyn-based electro-pop group Comandante Zero.  Go here  for the full schedule of the evening's events, talks, films and music.
