Photographer Jessica Fulford-Dobson started shooting the skateboarders of Skateistan, a non-profit in Kabul that teaches girls how to skate, back in 2012. Targeted especially toward children from low income families, Skateistan is also used to teach children -- many of whom are streetworking -- leadership and empowerment skills, with the ultimate goal to help them transition into the educational system.
Fulford-Dobson will be exhibiting the photos from Skateistan, titled "Skate Girls of Kabul," at Saatchi Gallery in London on Wednesday through April 28th. If you're not in London, a book, featuring a forward by Tony Hawk, is also on the way.
