Frankie Rose, late of the Vivian Girls and Dum Dum Girls, has released the new, wonderful Interstellar, which leaves behind her lo-fi ways and heads to more New Wave, dancey territory. She plays tonight alongside DIVE and Night Manager.

Knitting Factory Brooklyn, 361 Metropolitan Ave., Williamsburg, Brooklyn. 7 p.m. $10.

Third Annual Two Boots Mardi Gras Ball

Things are sure to get fun and funky at this third annual Fat Tuesday-themed Mardi Gras Ball, benefiting the Lower East Side Girls Club, and brought to you by the kind folks at Two Boots. Hosted by actress Rosario Dawson, and featuring performers like Murray Hill, Los Po-Boy-Citos and the Raya Brass Band, there'll also be tons of wild costumes, an auction, live art, not to mention food and drinks. If that's not enough, 100 percent of the proceeds go towards building the Girls Club's new building on Avenue D.

(le) Poisson Rouge, 158 Bleecker St. 7 p.m. $25.

The Anti-Foodie Foodies: Has Food Worship Jumped the Shark?

If going out to dinner with your friends has become a combination of a Portlandia episode and the comment thread on Eater.com, then you might want to head to tonight's panel at Housing Works. The event, timed to the publication of Tracie McMillan's new book, The American Way of Eating: Undercover at Walmart, Applebee's, Farm Fields and the Dinner Table, will feature McMillan in conversation with Amanda Hesser, Annia Ciezaadlo, Rev. Devanie Jackson and James Oseland. This high-powered foodie crew will be discussing whether our national obsession with food has gone a little too far.

Housing Works Used Bookstore Cafe, 126 Crosby St. 7 p.m. Free.
