Burberry, Pringle of Scotland and Christopher Kane -- Mr. Mickey's London Fashion Week Recaps

Mr. Mickey's in London right now for Fashion Week. He also just got an iPhone and can't stop making little movies of the shows that stand out. Below, some of his favorite moments from today.

When you think of Scotland you naturally think of warm, cozy tartan knits to wear on the cold moors! When you think of Pringle of Scotland you think of chic, high- fashion knits to wear on the cold streets of the fashion capitals of New York and London. Today Pringle showed just that: a parade of slim-fitting knits paired with skirts and pants and all worn with tin-can-heeled shoes. A comment on recycling perhaps? The new silhouette of the collection was a novelty take on the skort -- a skirt with a slit up the middle creating two flaps, one over each leg, which made for some interesting movement below the waist.

Christopher Kane

Christopher Kane is one of the most talked about young designers in London. The Scottish-born Kane is a graduate of the prestigious Central St. Martins school and made a splash with his debut collection of neon-hued bandage dresses in 2006. He's also co-creative director (along with Donatella Versace) of the Versus collection.

This season, Kane showed in a vast office space lined with chic lavender carpeting. The show began with shades of black seguing into purple, lavender and cherry red. The fabrics were slick and the prints gave a shiny moiré effect. Large flowers on black lace were overlayed over lavender to create a hard contrast. Of course the lavender leopard print was delicious. Overall the collection felt very modern and right now.

Burberry is the big daddy of London Fashion Week. They pull out all the stops and this season they showed in a clear plastic tent just alongside the gorgeous shiny Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens. Albert, the Prince Consort and the much-lamented husband of Queen Victoria, looked pretty spiffy seated majestically under a baldacchino in the monument. It lent a nice air of dignity to the proceedings. An international assortment of VIPs and celebrities lined the front row including actors Kate Bosworth, Burberry model Eddie Redmayne and girlfriend Rosie Huntington-Whitely, as well as photographer Mario Testino and cuties-about-town Poppy Delevigne and Alexa Chung.

The collection was luxurious and included gorgeous fabrics like corduroy and velvet. The silhouettes emphasized the hips with curved tailoring and protruding pockets. The feeling was very '40s with large ruffles down the front of slim knee-length skirts. The effect was, not surprisingly, completely chic. (Kudos to the line, as well, for having one of the most diverse fashion shows I've seen in a while.)  The finale was magical and featured an artificial rainstorm which sprinkled down on the tent to the accompanying sounds of thunder as the models took their final spin on the catwalk.
