Starting March 1, Les Arts Décoratifs museum in Paris is featuring an exhibition dedicated to the work and influences of Belgian designer Dries van Noten and his inimitable vision. Known for his love of prints, eclectic styling and contrasting male-female aesthetics, the Belgian original has made a poetic mark on the fashion world. First showing as part of the "Antwerp Six" in 1986, van Noten has found inspiration in everything from the work of artists like Mark Rothko and Elizabeth Peyton to the folk traditions of countries including India and Mexico. Curated by Pamela Golbin with exhibition design by Jean-Dominique Secondi, the show is part of an ongoing collaboration between the designer and the museum, including van Noten's use of replicated 19th-century textiles from its archives in his men's and women's Spring/Summer 2014 collections.
