Taking the biblical story of Adam and Eve into modern day Los Angeles, Lana Del Rey's new short film Tropico plays with sin and redemption, good vs. evil...beauty for money (ah, the plight of a pop star). Conceptually and visually it kinda reminds us of Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet.

Starting in the Garden of Eden, the three-part tale moves into a fluorescent-lit convenient store, grimy strip club, Hollywood Hills mansion and finally the California countryside. Set to chant-like dialogue and three songs off Del Rey's album Born To Die -- The Paradise Edition, including 'Body Electric,' 'Gods and Monsters,' and 'Bel Air,' the 30-minute film is a gritty pop take on innocence lost. The film is written by Del Rey, directed by Anthony Mandler (also of Del Rey's 'National Anthem' and 'Ride' video) and stars model Shaun Ross alongside Del Rey.
