To celebrate their fabulous new album, Something, synth-pop trio-turned-duo Chairlift take over the Bowery Ballroom tonight. Lead singer Caroline Polachek's vocals are as captivating and haunting as ever, but their latest (out via Columbia Records) grooves a bit harder than their debut. Violens and DIVE open.

The Pruitt-Igoe Myth at the IFC Center

Chad Freidrichs' new documentary tells the sad story of the Pruitt-Igoe housing projects in St. Louis (which were destroyed in a very public implosion on national television), as a way to explore the decline of public housing in America.

Writers on Film Presents Roy Blount Jr. at the Crosby Street Hotel

As part of the Crosby Street Hotel's regular "Writers on Film" series, humorist Roy Blount Jr. will be introducing and then chatting about the classic Marx Brothers comedy Duck Soup. Stick around after the screening for a post-talk cocktail reception.
