Let's face it: there are few better ways to start your day off than with a breakfast sandwich. Our current early bird obsession: The Bench Girl from Mediterranean/New Jersey/Portuguese "ItaLisboNYorka" sandwich shop City Sandwich. This oddly-named delight from the not-so-oddly named Hells Kitchen eatery is essentially an omelet between bread, combining fresh eggs, soft Portuguese Alheira sausage, spinach, and grilled onions, and topped with melted mozzarella. Despite the hefty filler, chef and owner Michael Guerrieri insists on a no-mayo approach, instead drizzling his creations with olive oil for a lighter hint of flavor.
