Welcome to Trailer Trash, highlighting the best, worst and so-so in new movie trailers.

It's that time again when we can all stop pretending we're cool and instead can geek out to movies about Middle Earth.  The first installment of Peter Jackson's long-anticipated Lord of the Rings prequel, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, has a new trailer (the actual film is supposed to be released on December 14), mostly featuring lush shots of Middle Earth and clips of Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) looking frazzled as his dwelling gets bombarded by dwarves. You can also catch Ian McKellen and Cate Blanchett reprising their roles as Gandalf and Galadriel, respectively, and, according to IMDB, Elijah Wood will be back as Frodo, Orlando Bloom as Legolas, Evangeline Lilly as Tauriel and Andy Serkis as Gollum.  The story has been split into a trilogy and we hear the second film, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will come out a year later on December 13, 2013 while the third and final film, The Hobbit: There and Back Again will be released on July 18, 2014.
