A few weeks ago we posted an apparently bootlegged teaser trailer for Downton Abbey season 3 that had aired only in the U.K. and has since been pulled. PBS has sighed and given in to our greedy stateside demand for all things Mistah Bates, because they just released this proper trailer for the new season despite its U.S. premiere date being four months away. (So we can probably bet on like 3 more more slightly-altered trailers coming out between now and then. Not that we're complaining.) There's some repeat stuff from the U.K.-only trailer here, including Shirley MacLaine and the Dowager Countess exchanging swipes. There's also the same pointed comments about Americans, the revelation that all of the Crawley's money is gone and we see Mistah Bates in the slammer. But there are some new additions here as well, including the introduction of a new, super-tall footman whom O'Brien seems to have taken under her wing (and who is maybe driving a wedge in her conniving friendship with Thomas?) and Lady Edith is maybe, finally, going to get a boyfriend this season. Check it out above.
